FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Spring Medical Systems teams with TEKfleet to offer end-to-
end support for Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
Working agreement driven by the $20 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to assist hospitals, clinics and physicians adopt Healthcare IT technology such as electronic health records
June 7, 2010 - Houston, Texas—Spring Medical Systems, a CCHIT-CertifiedSM leading provider of
software solutions for small- and medium-sized medical practices, announced today a teaming
agreement with TEKfleet, an organization of certified independent computer consultants to provide
extended computer services for small to mid-sized medical practices.
In order for physicians and practices to receive ARRA funds due for distribution starting in 2011, they
must show they are using a certified EHR in a meaningful way for a 90 day period. With the huge
number of expected systems to be installed later this year by the small to mid-size practices, there
isn’t much time left to get qualified to receive the 2011 funding. For multi-physician clinics without an
on-staff information technology team, the additional complexity of an office network, multiple
computers, data access and security challenges could call for the use of an outside computer
consultant for assistance. Spring Medical Systems and TEKfleet have a long working relationship
designed to minimize installation time and focused on optimizing the efficiencies afforded a busy
practice through the effective use of an easy-to-use EHR.
"Driven by ARRA, physicians are faced with implementing new EHR systems to improve and streamline
their interactions with their patients. This can be a difficult task for practices not equipped with a staff
of computer personnel. With our agreement with TEKfleet, we can assist physicians to optimize the
use of our SpringCharts family of solutions. With one call we can now offer not only support for the
SpringCharts portfolio of EHR solutions, but also the information technology support offered by
TEKfleet such as networking, program maintenance, and data security,” said Jack B. Smyth, President & CEO of Spring Medical.
”We are delighted to be working with Spring Medical in providing a complete technology management
solution to physicians,” said Kimberly Hatch, CEO of TEKfleet. “Our TEKs understand the complexities
of the medical office and its reliance on a technology environment to work efficiently. They can
address immediate problems with all types of computers and related devices, like printers, scanners,
networks, and smartphones or provide a warranty for the office’s entire technology environment to
prevent most problems from occurring. TEKfleet makes sure your technology works for you, not the
other way around.”
