Initiative is dedicated to promoting effective and affordable Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for family physicians in independent medical practices

June 4, 2004-Houston, TX-- Spring Medical Systems announced today that it is now a supporting member of the American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP) “Partners for Patients” Initiative. The initiative is intended to make it easier for AAFP member physicians to implement EMRs as a means of increasing office efficiency and improving patient care. All members of the initiative agree to adopt the Initiative’s four fundamental principles of Affordability, Compatibility, Interoperability, and Data Stewardship as cornerstones of their development philosophies.

The AAFP represents more than 90,000 physicians and medical students in the U.S, and has taken a lead role in advocating the adoption and usage of EMRs in small and medium-sized medical offices. This initiative is a project of the AAFP’s Center for Health Information Technology, an agency that provides consulting, education and other services dedicated to increasing the availability of reasonably priced and standardized health information technology.
